Cynthia Martinez
Digital Strategist, Elizabeth Christian Public Relations (ECPR)
Cynthia Martinez is the digital strategist for Elizabeth Christian Public Relations (ECPR) and has more than ten years of experience helping organizations take complex issues and translate them into stories that connect with the public.
Prior to joining ECPR, Martinez spent nine years as the communications director for the largest provider of free legal services in Texas. She has developed traditional and digital campaigns that have received national attention, including handling media relations for the largest child custody dispute in Texas history. Her campaigns have supported organizations with their legislative strategies and fundraising efforts and have led to significant reforms in the Texas foster care system, federal disaster assistance, and state regulations over homeowners associations. She is a former editor-in-chief of the Harvard Journal of African American Public Policy.
In her spare time, Martinez is a volunteer with Divine Canines and, alongside Bailey the Therapy Hound, can often be found roaming the halls of St. David’s Medical Center, St. David’s Rehabilitation Hospital, the Austin VA Clinic, and the Austin Children’s Shelter.
Born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, Martinez has a Masters of Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School and Bachelors of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.
